R 021 - "François Ier" plate.
Very delicate work for a particularly well balanced composition. Dark brown clay motifs inlaid in a golden-grey stoneware ground. The rim takes up a double looped pattern that was extremely common in the French Renaissance gilt leather book-binding. The base bears quatrefoil designs that remind one of ermine. The plate displays the pottery's stamp in its center. Ø = 24,7 cm.
