R 006 - "Tondino" wide rimmed plate.
Iron-red glazed brown stoneware. This is an interpretation of the round small dishes with a broad flat rim that ran from the Italian tondino in the 15th and 16th centuries, to the pewter "à la cardinal" 17th to 18th centuries dish. Both the satin smoothness of the glaze and the rich hue remind one of red leather. The facing side of the plate bears the stamp of the pottery on the rim as a coat of arms. Ø = 23,7 cm.
